Choosing a Browser or Client for an LTS Recorder

Understand why an older recorder may need a different viewing method from a newer model.

Browser support depends on the recorder model, firmware and features you need.

Older plug-in interfaces

Historical LTS guidance relied on Internet Explorer plug-ins. That does not make standalone Internet Explorer a suitable current recommendation. A modern browser may open the login page without supporting the old video component.

Newer interfaces

LTS documented plug-in-free HTML5 viewing on some newer firmware 4.0 models. This was not a promise that every recorder or feature worked in every browser.

Choose the supported route

Give CJSC your model, firmware, computer operating system and intended task. We can check whether to use browser viewing or the appropriate NVMS client. Do not disable stream encryption or install an unknown browser extension just to reproduce an old tutorial.

Sources and applicability

Written in CJSC’s own wording using archived LTS instructions. Follow the version noted above.
