Spring Break: A Safe, Fun, Exciting Time…Right?
With Spring quickly approaching make sure you know what is going on in and around your home and/or place of business. Spring Break is a huge time for people to celebrate the warm weather, breaks from school, and the fact that the Summer months will soon be here. It’s a time where families and friends get together and spend many afternoons by the pool, at the boardwalk, or just taking it easy. It is also a very popular time for high school and college students to throw house parties. With popular towns like Seaside, Asbury, Belmar, Wildwood, and Point Pleasant, our state becomes a very fun place to celebrate. Although it is a very exciting time for everyone, most parents don’t get off from work to keep an eye on what’s going on at home. Don’t you want to make sure your home and the people in it are safe and secure? Allow us here at Central Jersey Security Cameras to help!
What are the risks during Spring Break?
Its no surprise to many of us that a lot of Spring break parties consist of underage drinking. Statistics from the Office of Juvenile Justice found that people between the ages of 12-20 drink 11% of alcohol consumed in the U.S. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAA) did a study in 2014 that determined almost half of all college students binge drink and take it to the extreme during Spring break. Another study done by the American College of Health determined the average college male drinks about 18 drinks per day on Spring break while the average college female drinks up to 10. These numbers are well over the safe level of alcohol consumption. With the installation of security cameras in your home it will deter your high schoolers and college kids from throwing parties this Spring break and make them second guess the choices they make when you aren’t home.
Are there other risks we should be concerned about?
-Half of full-time college students have reported drinking, using prescription drugs, or using illicit drugs during Spring break
-More than 690,000 students (ages 18-24) have reported being assaulted by an individual who has been drinking
-More than 97,000 students (ages 18-24) have reported experiencing some form of sexual abuse from an individual who has been drinking
-Over 599,000 students (ages 18-24) have had unintentional injuries as a result of alcohol consumption
–Theft is extremely common during Spring break because a lot of people leave their wallets and purses in unsecure places while partying
Let us here at Central Jersey Security Cameras help in ensuring that your home and the people in it are safe. Not only do we offer security cameras and alarms, we also offer a feature called line crossing detection, or intrusion detection. This is a function of your DVR, NVR or IP camera. Line crossing detection instantly detects any motion in a certain “set”, which is a set area that is personally set by you for your alert needs. It will send immediate alerts to your smart device directly from the DVR, NVR or IP camera. For example, you want to know when someone or something enters your driveway? So, you go into the software of your DVR, NVR or IP camera and start setting up specific areas by drawing lines across the driveway. Of course, these are not visible lines to the human eye since it is only a virtual line or perimeter you have created, but it acts just as good as a virtual tripwire. You will be able to set this to work on a schedule for when you aren’t home. Keep track of the people entering your home when you aren’t there.
My Kid? NEVER…!
Certainly, we should hope and trust that our children will make safe decisions and be responsible this Spring break. Unfortunately, peer pressure plays a big role at high school and college parties. A lot of times teens and young adults feel that they should engage in risky behavior just because “everyone’s doing it” or because “its cool” to fit in which can result in bad decision making especially when alcohol is involved. Let’s work together to ensure that your children make responsible decisions this Spring break by installing security cameras inside your home!
I have a pool and a huge backyard; how will I be able to see what’s going on outside?
Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras we have the proper equipment to fit everyone’s needs. Our team of well-trained technicians would be happy to install security cameras on the outside of your house and yes, even by your pool! We have a wide selection of dome cameras and bullet cameras that are weatherproof and waterproof so you will still be able to clearly view what is going on in or outside of your home. The main difference between both dome and bullet cameras is their appearance. Bullet cameras are recommended for outside mainly because of its double EXIR Infrareds built into some models thus causing the night vision to be extended an additional 40 to 50 feet.
I own a business, should I be concerned about Spring breakers?
Beach towns become much busier once the weather gets warmer. If you own a business near the beach or on the boardwalk, we can help to ensure that your place of business is safe and secure during and after hours. A lot of teens and college students tend to let loose and be carefree during Spring break, which can unfortunately result in them becoming rowdy and irresponsible. Not only is the boardwalk a popular place for Spring breakers, it is also very busy for those celebrating Easter! Seaside, Point Pleasant, and Wildwood offer Easter egg hunts right on the boardwalk. Jenkinson’s boardwalk in Point Pleasant is also offering an Easter 2-for-1 sale on amusement ride tickets. April is a very busy time for our beach towns and boardwalks, make sure your protecting one the places that matters most to you.
With the installation of security cameras on the inside or outside of your business you will be able to view any suspicious behavior that may take place. It is extremely difficult to keep an eye on everyone that enters and exits your place of business, especially when you’re working in a highly populated area. Shops located near and on the boardwalk see thousands of people each day during the warmer months. With the installation of security cameras, you can feel more comfortable knowing that you have an extra set of eyes to catch any risky behavior, and you will also be able to contact the proper authorities in the case that something does happen.
I rent out my home during the Spring and Summer months, should I be worried?
The warmer months are a very popular time for people to rent vacation homes, especially here at the Jersey Shore. With places like Wildwood, Seaside, Point Pleasant, and more, our state becomes much more populated during the Spring and Summer months. Keep track of what is happening in your rental homes when they are being occupied by tenants. With the installation of security cameras, you can ensure that your home is being respected and well taken care of while being rented out this Spring break season. Our team of technicians can help you in deciding which camera’s best fit your needs and place them in the common areas of your home (driveways, front and back doors, the garage, stair wells). However, cameras will not be placed in changing rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, and laundry areas in order to respect your tenant’s privacy.
How will installing cameras help in keeping our children safe this Spring break?
Of course, Spring break is worth celebrating! But we must ensure that our children are doing it in a safe and responsible way. Here at Central Jersey Security Cameras our well-trained team of technicians can help you in choosing the proper equipment for your home. Our remote view cameras are very popular and will allow you to see what is taking place in your home by viewing it on your smart phone, tablet, or computer. This will show you a clear live video of what is happening and will allow you to take action in the case that you need to. We also offer a feature called line crossing detection. This feature will send you an alert right to your phone when somebody walks up to your front door or pulls into your driveway. Line intrusion is a nice feature for having your cameras professionally installed. Surely it will help ease your worries and concerns for who is in your home when you can’t be there to see for yourself.
Can I save footage from the cameras?
Record all events in “real time” as they happen. Receive push notifications or text messages of real-time video from your security equipment. Watch your home live when you’re not there from smartphones or other portable devices. Keep an eye on what’s going on in your home during this popular party season and feel comfortable knowing exactly what is taking place at that exact time.
If an event were to occur, for example, somewhere within a 24-hour period but you’re not quite sure when the event happened, you can jump around to time frames with our event schedule. This appears as a color-coded event list. It allows you to jump ahead to all motion triggered events, thus making your search much quicker. If your cameras are set to record all the time, even with nothing moving in front of them, it could shorten the life of the hard drive space. With the event schedule you could save space and lengthen the time on your NVR/DVR.
